Career Orientation Day

25. October 2023, Wednesday

Can a fifth grader produce a part on a CNC lathe by themselves? Is it possible to learn how to operate a CNC laser engraving machine in just a few minutes? A moodboard (pronounced müdbord) is a mood board that interior designers use to determine the interior style, atmosphere, colors, and furnishings of a home. But can a fifth grader put one together?

The 5th grade students of the II. Rákóczi Ferenc Primary School in Győrújbarát visited us to gain an insight into the life of a workplace as part of the career orientation day. After a short film and introduction - where the family business started and where it has developed - we also listened with pleasure to them, among whom there are already those who know what career they would like to choose. There were those who would choose interior decoration, mechanical engineering, teaching, or a sports-related profession. We divided the class into two groups - boys and girls - while the boys visited the cutting and surface treatment plant, interior decorator Mónika Tóth held a creative session for the girls, where they could learn how to put together the so-called Moodboard (mood, inspiration board). They threw themselves into the task with incredible enthusiasm, the goal was for everyone to decorate their own room by the end of the session!

- But did they succeed?

Of course! Everyone, without exception, put together their mood board, we just hope that we didn't cause a big headache for the parents and they didn't have to immediately go to IKEA to get the stuff! :)Meanwhile, our colleagues introduced the old traditional and the latest computer-controlled cutting technologies to the guys, who had to answer a lot of questions... what is monkey milk (emulsion)? Can you drink it? (no... :D) Can they operate the machines? Of course!
We prepared in advance and set up one of the CNC lathes, where the guys could independently - safely of course - manufacture for themselves - and for the girls, a small stainless steel pendant. They then wrote this on the laser engraving machine, also with independent programming and machine operation. Some people put their own nickname or the name of their pet on one side of the medallion, while on the other side there was a Google emoji, a dog, or a cat. This generation is incredible... they only had to be shown once how to set the machine parameters, insert the workpiece and start it, and then they taught each other! In the 3rd quarter of the day, Sándor Szalma, the head of the anodizing plant, tried to explain the surface treatment plant, but unfortunately the guys saw the sports room... :D Here, ping-pong and fingerboard (mini skateboard track) awaited them. And since there is a 3rd DAN karate master in our Team - Gábor Soós (multiple national champion and 2nd place in the world championship), who is also the shift manager of the anodizing plant, an impromptu karate training could not be missed! The enterprising boys participated in the training in groups of five or six, where they learned basic techniques: punches, kicks, defenses, and then demonstrated their acquired knowledge without sparing the shield or punching bag!

Check out the photos and videos from the day!

Thank you for choosing us as the class and we trust that you had a positive experience on this day!
We would also like to thank our colleagues for their enthusiastic attitude towards the students!
